Join the I4C26 Organized Expert Review for the SRCities Second Order Draft

The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) and UN-Habitat, as co-hosts of the 2026 Innovate4Cities Conference (I4C26), in partnership with ICLEI–Local Governments for Sustainability and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC), are pleased to facilitate an in-person Organized Expert Review for the Second Order Draft (SOD) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRCities).

We invite all interested participants to join as expert reviewers to help shape this landmark report during this workshop at I4C26 in Nairobi.

How to Participate

To participate in the I4C26 Organized Expert Review you must complete the following 3 steps:

  • Step 1: Register with the IPCC. Sign up as an official IPCC expert reviewer no later than 3 June 2026.
  • Step 2: Confirm with I4C26. Confirm your interest in the I4C26 Organized Expert Review with this form no later than 3 June 2026.
  • Step 3: Conduct your pre-conference review. Reviewers will have one month before I4C26 for an individual desk review – those comments will serve as the foundation for the workshop discussion. Submit your comments by 12 June. To submit, download the IPCC excel comment template (available on the IPCC website 8 May), insert your comments and send the template to innovate4cities@gcomprojectsupport.org. 

⚠️Important Note: You MUST register with the IPCC (Step 1) and confirm with the I4C26 team (Step 2) by 3 June or you will not be able to participate in the in-person workshop.

Join an Info Session

If you are interested in being part of the I4C26 Organized Expert Review, we warmly invite you to attend an online info session to learn more about the review process and receive guidance. 

We are offering two identical sessions to cover different time zones. Please register and join the one that works best for your schedule:

IF you’re not able to join us in-person in Nairobi, but would like to contribute to the Organized Review, you are invited to submit written comments, following steps 1-3 above, prior to I4C26. Those comments will be included in the workshop discussion and the final submission to the IPCC.
