Over the past decade, cities have built an unprecedented foundation for climate action through inventories, planning, commitments, and reporting. But the challenge now is turning that foundation into delivery. During a session at Innovate4Cities today, GCoM joined ClimateView, ICLEI, and WWF to look back on the last decade of climate action, discuss what comes next, and explore the role of AI in this vision. This included launching a new white paper titled AI and Sustainability: From Mining the Past to Inventing the Future, which introduces a concept for AI that goes beyond mining the past to helping cities strategically identify and design the interventions that come next.
The paper is co-authored with ClimateView, ICLEI, the Scottish Climate Intelligence Service, United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security, and the Social Research Center of TU Dortmund University.
